Songs of Hope Concert (September 2017)
Musical traditions of the Black and Jewish communities will be featured at “Songs of Hope,” a concert that will be held on September 10, 2017, at 4:00 pm at the Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church, 55 Illinois St in Worcester (see attached flyer). “Songs of Hope” is the very first event sponsored by the Worcester Black-Jewish Alliance, a new initiative supported by the Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts, the Worcester Black Clergy Alliance, and the Worcester NAACP. I have been very involved in creating the Alliance as well as in planning the concert, so I am very excited about this event!
The concert will provide an opportunity to bring our two communities closer together. A reception will follow the concert, and while food will be provided, attendees are also encouraged to bring a potluck dish of Black or Jewish cultural origin. The concert is free and open to the public. If you have any questions regarding the concert, feel free to contact me at michaelswarttz@rcn.com.
