Children's Services and Babysitting

Dear Parents,

We are very pleased to offer a variety of Children's High Holiday Services. There is no fee for attending these Services, but we request your assistance in signing up your child(ren) in advance.  The Children’s Service will run from approximately 10:30am – noon on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Children will go as a group from the main service to their age appropriate children's service after the Torah is processed around the sanctuary at the beginning of the Torah service.

Please read carefully so that you can sign your child up for the appropriate services based on your child’s age/grade. These services are designed by age to maximize participation, and keep children interested and engaged.

  • Service A - Grades Pre-K through 3rd will meet in one room;
  • Service B - Grades 4 through 6th grade will meet in another room;
  • Babysitting Ages 2 thru 6 is provided from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. (You may register for babysitting below, or you may fill out and send this form to Shelley Dubin.

At the end of the children's services, the children in Service A will be dismissed to the babysitting room.  Parents may pick their child up from there before 1 PM. No child will be dismissed to anyone other than a parent without a note of documentation. Children in Service B will be walked around outside the building to the youth lounge off the lobby. They will remain there until the end of the Rabbi's sermon at which time they will quietly join their families in the main service.

We will serve a snack of apples and honey, graham crackers and juice on Rosh Hashanah to the children in Service A and B.  We will only serve a snack to the children in Service A on Yom Kippur.

If you have a child in grades 7 and above who would like to help with the Children's Service, please contact Wendy Gonsenhauser by September 18 for an assignment.  All teens age 13 and up must have prior confirmation from Wendy Gonsenhauser to be in the children's area, or will not be allowed to stay.

The above guidelines have been put in place to assure a pleasurable, nurturing, and safe environment for all the children and we thank you for your cooperation and wish you Happy and Healthy New Year!
