User Login:

To add, delete or modify an event you must first log in.  User names and passwords are case sensitive, so type them in using the proper upper and lower case letters.  I have established all user names and initial passwords using all lower case letters.  First time users should immediately change their default passwords.

 

To Add an Event:

 

·        Select Add/Event from the Main Menu.  The Calendar Administration:  Add Event screen will be displayed

·        Title field: type in a short title for the event to appear in the calendar

·        Description field: (optional) type in additional details about the event (e.g. location, fee, RSVP, contact person, phone).  A link to a flyer can be included (see Attaching Files, below)

·        JCC Coordination:  If we need to use any JCC rooms (incl. the social room adjacent to out sanctuary, indicate if you have cleared it with the JCC

·        Click Save And Continue

The Calendar Administration:  Schedule Event screen will be displayed.  (Even though you see Event added successfully  displayed in red, you are not done until you enter time and date info

·        Start Time field:  Enter the start time and select AM or PM from the pull down

·        End Time field:  (optional) Enter the end time and select AM or PM from the pull down

·        Individual Date(s) field:  Enter the date (or multiple dates separated by commas.  If you prefer, click on the > symbol to the right of the date field and a small calendar will be displayed from which you can select one or more dates. 

·        Date Range field:  For multiple day events you can select a range of dates

·        Recurring Schedule field:  select for repeating events such as events occurring every Friday.

·        Click Save

The Calendar Administration:  Add Event screen will be displayed again.  Schedule Saved will be displayed in red.

·        Your event has now been added and you are positioned to add another event.  If you are done adding events, select View Calendar  from the Menu

 

To edit or delete an existing event:

·        Select Edit Events from the Main Menu. The Calendar Administration:  Edit Events screen will be displayed.  The list of events that you are allowed to edit will be displayed for the current month.  Note that for most users you are only allowed to edit or delete events which you originally added.

·        If the desired event is not in the current month, select the month of the event using the pull-down menu and click Go.

·        Find the event you want to edit or delete or reschedule and click the appropriate Action button.

For Edit:

·        Calendar Administration:  Edit Event screen will be displayed.  Change the title or description as desired.  If you do not need to make any changes to the schedule as well, uncheck the Modify event schedule now box.  If you do want to make schedule changes too, leave that box checked.

·        Click the Save Changes button. Event successfully modified will be displayed in red.  You will be taken to the Calendar Administration:  Schedule Event screen if you left the Modify event schedule now box checked (skip to the second bullet under "For schedule changes" below for the next step).  Otherwise you will be taken back to the Edit Events screen and you are done.  If you are done editing events, select View Calendar  from the Menu.

 

For schedule changes:

·        Click the Schedule button. 

·        The Calendar Administration:  Schedule Event screen will be displayed.  Change the time or date as desired and click the Save button when done.  Scheduled saved will be displayed in red and you will be taken back to the Edit Events screen and you are done.  If you are done editing events, select View Calendar  from the Menu.

 

 

Attaching Files:

Calendar Events can include a link to a flyer which provides additional information as well as photos and graphics.  The event coordinator will add the event, along with a pointer to the flyer, to the calendar and then email the flyer file to the web master who will post the flyer to the web site.  The steps are:

  • Log into the Tikvah Interactive Calendar at: http://www.bethtikvahsynagogue.org/HTML/Events_page.htm
  • Create a calendar entry.  In the Description field, type in a description of the event.  At the end of your description, add the following text exactly as shown, replacing Flyer_File_Name with the file name of your flyer. 
    • For most files, keep the file extension .htm regardless of the real file name extension of your file.
